Casa Margaretha
A romantic little village house in a traditional white village in the Subbética Natural Park in the Province of Cordoba. The perfect place for a couple who wish to experience Authentic Andalusian village life, looking for a base in the heart of Andalucía from where to explore the famous Moorish cities and Natural Parks of authentic inland Andalucia. Its central location enables day trips to Granada, Seville, Córdoba and the Mediterranean coast.

| Casa Margaretha is an original Andalusian village house. If you wish to experience authentic Andalusian village life, this is the place to go. The house has thick walls, built from local rocks more than a hundred years ago. Recently it has been attractively refurbished in a charming rustic style. As lovely as it is inside, what makes this a really wonderful base from where to explore the area is it’s intimate plunge pool and surprisingly private terraces. Here you are completely hidden from view, despite being in the middle of the old town. |

| From the back door you get to an outbuilding with a laundry room and toilet. A few steps take you up to a lovely al fresco dining area with a romantic Moroccan dining table. During summer this area is perfectly shaded by a pergola covered with a mature vine. This lovely place is completely hidden from sight and perfect for any time of day, be it to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, for a candle-lit dinner, or simply to enjoy a glass of wine. |

| A few more steps take you up to a wonderful sun terrace with an intimate plunge pool (2x2 m). The pool has a little bench all around, just under the water level, inviting you to sit down and relax with a cool drink. On the terraced area next to the pool two loungers await you to lay back and enjoy the Andalusian sunshine. At the end of the terrace is a small dining table. A wonderful place for an al fresco dinner on a warm Andalusian night gazing at the starry sky. |

| The house is located in the old part of the small town. It is close to a lively square, yet the house itself is in a quiet no through road, prettily lined with orange trees. The neighbours will sit out in the open in front of their houses, to enjoy the cooling down after a hot day, and chat with whoever passes by. |

| From the elevated walk path along the street you enter the house through double wooden doors directly into the living room. The living room has a comfortable sofa and armchair. It has is a wood burning stove to take the chill off winter evenings, enhancing the cosy, rustic atmosphere. The cottage has TV (Spanish) and a DVD-player with some films. In the corner you will find a small dining table. When renovating the house, every effort was made to add modern comfort, without changing the original charm and rustic character of the house. The warm, earthy colours, the wooden beams and the terracotta-tiled floors all add to the authentic ambiance. |

| A few steps bring you to the cosy kitchen. It is small but decently equipped. It has a four ring gas hob, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee making device. The owners will provide you with a welcome pack upon arrival. If you do not feel like cooking, don’t worry: the small town with its many local restaurants and tapas bars is at your doorstep. |

| From the kitchen stairs leads up to the second floor where you will the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has a large double bed and a sofa bed for occasional use. Since this house is located in the very heart of Andalucia, summer can be hot and winter freezing cold. Therefore this room has both a ceiling fan, air-conditioning and electric wall heater. Thus you will be comfortable all year round. |

| The bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. It has a bath and a large tiled walk-in shower, basin and toilet. It is stylishly decorated with classic beige and white Moroccan tiles. All materials used are of high quality, the towels fluffy and soft, adding to a great feel of comfort. |

| Next to the bedroom is a small study with a desk. Around the house you will find many lovely details. This lovely little hideaway is an excellent base from which to explore the many interesting sites of the area, and to relax at the pool upon return to this lovely home away from home. Location: Casa Margaretha is located in a small village in the Subbética Natural Park in the province of Cordoba. The whitewashed village of Iznájar with all the main amenities is only a 15 minutes drive. From Malaga it is about a one hour drive to Casa Margaretha. It is one hour to Granada and Cordoba and two hours to Seville. |

| Surroundings: Casa Margaretha is located in Rute, a small unpretentious but authentic Andalusian town. It has nice squares and quiet parks, a ruined Moorish castle, many shops, restaurants and bars. Every Saturday there is a local fresh market. Rute has a history of manufacturing Anís, a local aniseed-flavoured liqueur, and is also famous for its jamón, cured ham and for its sweets (e.g. Turrón, a tasty Christmas treat). At the nearby Plaza de Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza you will find local museums dedicated to each of these traditions. As the town is located at only a 100 m from the Sierra de Subbética Natural Park you could make some great walks, including a section of the GR7, the long-distance footpath that crosses Europe. |

| The nearby village of Iznájar has some interesting sights too, like a Moorish castle dating from the 8th Century and church from the 16th Century. From Iznájar you have spectacular view over the Embalse de Iznájar. It is great for swimming and water sports are enjoyed on its sandy Valdearenas Beach. An easy drive away are the Mediterranean beaches and golf courses. You will be amazed by the beautiful scenery of the Subbética Natural Park, where the scenery varies from lovely valleys with endless olive groves to rocky mountains, dotted occasionally with some picturesque white villages clinging to spectacular mountain locations. Also El Torcal Natural Park (near Antequera, app. 30 minutes) is definitely worth a visit. You could easily make a daytrip to some of the famous Moorish cities. You could visit the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Cordoba, the bridge over the Tajo in Ronda, or the Alcazar and Giralda in Seville. |
