Caseta Castaña is an original Andalusian cottage, exquisitely restored, in an utterly tranquil location. The perfect place for a couple to escape from their busy life and to unwind. This is all about tranquillity.

Situated in the Subbética Natural Park, the house has breathtaking views over the endless olives groves all around.

This cosy Caseta is built just below and to the side of the owners home. It has plenty of privacy as it has a private entrance, its own private terrace and car park.

On the upper level, you access the cottage from a terrace which also extends around to the owners house. To the side of the is the lovely pool area. The terrace around the pool is surrounded by colourful plants and fragrant Mediterranean herbs.

Guests staying at the cottage have exclusive use of the pool area. The pool area is overlooked by the main house and its terrace. The owners are a relaxed and friendly couple; you will most likely enjoy their help and advice and soon feel completely at home.

At the end of the pool area is a terrace with a shady gazebo. This is a lovely place to dine al fresco.

If you wish not to be overlooked at all, you can enjoy the Caseta’s private terrace that runs along the length of the property.

This is a very private area with yet another wonderful shaded area for al fresco dining, seating four guests. This terrace is immediately next to the kitchen.
 

Further along the terrace is not shaded. Here you will find two deck chairs to enjoy the warm Andalusian sunshine in complete privacy.

From this private terrace you have undisturbed views of the rolling hills of the Subbética Natural Park. After a rewarding trip, when you return to the house in the evening, this is a wonderful place to sit out in the open in the warm Andalusian nights, gazing at the starry skies.

You enter the house on the upper level to the spacious bedroom. It has a large comfortable double bed. This bright and airy room has windows to three sides, thus you will awake to a stunning panoramic view of the olive groves.

In the corner is a wood burning stove to take the chill off winter evenings, enhancing the cosy, rustic atmosphere. It has also some electric panels. A ceiling fan will keep you comfortable in the height of summer.

A spiral staircase leads down to the lower floor where you will find the kitchen, bathroom, an indoors dining area and a sitting room. The cottage has satellite TV and DVD.

The kitchen is small but decently equipped. It has a grill/oven, two ring gas hob, fridge, toaster and kettle. The owners will provide you with a welcome pack upon arrival.

If you do not feel like cooking: there are two good restaurants (one of them Italian) at only a ten minutes walk.
 

Next to the kitchen is the indoors dining area. From the dining area French doors open to the Caseta\\\'s own private terrace.

The terrace and lower floor can also be accessed directly from external steps which run down the side of the cottage.

When renovating the house, every effort was made to add modern comfort, without changing the original charm and rustic character of the house.
 

The warm, earthy colours, the wooden beams and the terracotta-tiled floors all add to the comfortable ambiance.

At the other side of the kitchen is the bathroom. It has a large tiled walk-in shower, basin and toilet. It is quite pretty with classic white fixtures.

All materials used are of high quality, the towels fluffy and soft, adding to a great feel of comfort.
 

Around the house you will find many lovely details showing the love and care with which the owners have prepared the charming home away from home. This lovely little hideaway in the hills is a great place to relax at the pool. Equally it is an excellent base from which to explore the many interesting sites of the area.

Apart from the extensive natural parks around Cordoba, where the scenery varies from lovely valleys with endless olive groves to rocky mountains, dotted occasionally with some picturesque white villages, you could make a daytrip to some of the famous Moorish cities.

Surroundings:

The whitewashed village of Iznájar with all the main amenities is only a 15 minutes drive. It has some interesting sights, like a Moorish castle dating from the 8th Century and church from the 16th Century. From Iznájar you have spectacular view over the Embalse de Iznájar. It is great for swimming and water sports are enjoyed on its sandy Valdearenas Beach.

Apart from the beautiful scenery of the Subbética Natural Park, and its many delightful villages, there are numerous remains of ancient civilizations in the area.

You could easily visit the Alhambra in Granada, the Mezquita in Cordoba, the bridge over the Tajo in Ronda, or the Alcazar and Giralda in Seville. Also El Torcal Natural Park (near Antequera, app. 30 minutes) is definitely worth a visit.

On your trips in this area you will see many enchanting ‘white villages’ clinging to spectacular mountain locations. An easy drive away are the Mediterranean beaches and golf courses.
