Dar Hajra
Clinging to the mountain like an eagle’s nest, as if grown organically out of the rocks, Dar Hajra is one of the most romantic and intimate hideaways in Andalusia. A superbly comfortable house with a stunning panoramic view of the peaks of the beautiful Grazalema National Park.

Dar Hajra has been built on top of a rocky outcrop above a small, white-washed village close to Ronda. It appears to have grown organically out of the mountainside.
It was built by a British author as a retreat for himself and the love of his life. As a connoisseur of Andalusia, it is clear why he chose this spot to build the house of his dreams.
As soon as you enter the lounge a stunning view of the Grazalema mountains and the valley opens up before you.

From the terrace you get to an infinity plunge pool, where the water merges with the distant mountains, a truly stunning visual experience. This is a place to unwind, full of privacy and tranquillity.
It is unforgettable to bathe here during the warm, Andalusian nights, gazing at the distant peaks of Grazalema and the stars up above.
Just beyond the pool is a fragrant herb garden: a stay at Dar Hajra is a truly sensual experience. This is a perfect place for a (second?) honeymoon. |

The house has been constructed with all modern comforts in mind, but at the same time fully integrates the surrounding landscape. The rock on which the house is built has been integrated as a part of the design and is visible in several areas.
The house is a reflection of the artistic sensitivity of the owners, who designed the house themselves.
Dar Hajra has been decorated with artifacts collected during their many trips around the world. There is a fascinating mixture of organic elements, oriental, contemporary and African art, and colours inspired by those of the Mahgreb. |

There is a satellite TV/DVD player and a large collection of films, including several classics of Spanish cinema, and a CD player with IPOD docking system.
The house has a large study with an extensive library. The owner has written his own walking guide to the area and has masses of route notes and maps for his guests.
There is also a huge collection of CD’s of jazz, folk, classical rock and blues music. There is a computer with free 24 hour broadband internet access.
Dar Hajra has many remarkable features, like the Moroccan mosaic of a peacock, which is the focal point of the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is well equipped, with among other microwave and dishwasher. |

A winding staircase, sculpted between the rocks, leads down to the main bedroom which has a king size double bed.
The decoration of the room has been inspired by the colours and designs of Moorish Andalusia. You will awake in your bed to a stunning, panoramic view of the Grazalema peaks. There is a large walk-in wardrobe with masses of shelf and hanging space. |

|
Upstairs is a second bedroom with a smaller double bed and with the same stunning view. |

The bathroom is simply extraordinary.
A huge shower rose hangs amidst the rocks; imagine taking a bath or shower here by candle light…
A stay at Dar Hajra is a truly sensual experience.
