La Coronela
This authentic old mill overlooks the beautiful valley close to famous Ronda. This place is steeped with history. A secluded retreat, yet not isolated, at only a few minutes walk from a good restaurant and a ten minutes drive from the ancient town of Ronda. A perfect place to get away from it all, from where to discover the area, or simply to relax by the pool.
2-4 persons

La Coronela is located almost at the top of the hill, overlooking the lovely valley near Ronda.

The tumbled down mill of before has become a true romantic hideaway.

From the premises you have great views to the Grazalema Natural park in the distance. The estate is not overlooked, offering lots of privacy.

La Coronela - View from the pool

Set aside is the original alberca. It has been turned into a lovely plunge pool.

You will find comfortable lounge chairs with colourful cushions to relax and enjoy the amazing view in peace.

At the far corner a separate terrace has been created. A lovely place to dine al fresco, with a 360 degree view over the area.

Even though you are in fact close to civilisation, here you are completely on your own.

Bordering the terrace are many fragrant herbs, like Marjory and Lavender.

In early winter the orange trees blossom with a lovely scent, the rest of the year the bright oranges add to the Mediterranean atmosphere.

Depending upon the weather and your preferences, you can choose for either a sunny spot, or, at the hottest time of day, for a shady spot under the old pine trees.

On one side the area is shaded by huge pine trees, that must have been there forever.

The original threshing area around the mill serves as a spacious terrace.

Partly the ruins have been preserved as there were, thus adding to the atmosphere of the place.

The living room has been cleverly created at the first floor, thus offering a great view over the valley.

The decoration is stylish, a carefully designed mixture of antique features with modern comfort.

All floors in the house have original terracotta tiles.

Next to the living room is a spacious double bedroom. It has modern, comfortable large twin beds, that fit perfectly together. The linen is of good quality.

The room is decorated with antique furniture and has a huge built in wardrobe. The window looks out to the valley.

Next to the bedroom is the spacious bathroom, with attractive colourful ceramic tiling and retro-style taps. It has a bath with shower over, two basins and lavatory.

You will find luxurious fluffy towels and lots of space for your toiletries.

Downstairs is a welcoming second bedroom with twin beds.

It has an en-suite bathroom with lovely ceramic tiling, a large walk-in shower, basin and lavatory.

Next to the entrance to the house you will find the kitchen and the dining room with open fire.

The dining room easily seats four. You will probably usually choose to dine al fresco, however on a colder winter day it is lovely to dine here next to the warm and cosy log fire.

The kitchen offers all modern cons, it has a four ring ceramic stove, electric oven, microwave, fridge-freezer dishwasher and washing machine.

The window offers a view to the valley.

Taken as a whole La Coronela is ideal for a romantic couple or a group of four, to relax and enjoy the charm and comfort of this estate in its delightful atmosphere, looking out across a scenery full of possibilities.

Location:

La Coronela is situated along a well maintained single track country lane at about a 10 minutes drive from the ancient town of Ronda. Ronda has all facilities. At walking distance you will find a good and pleasant restaurant.
It is one hour to Jerez airport, one and a half hours to the airports of Malaga and Seville.

Surroundings:

Apart from the truly stunning scenery in and around Ronda (Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves, Grazalema Natural Park, Zahara Lake etc.), there are numerous remains of ancient civilizations in the area, including some of Europe’s most beautiful cave paintings in the Cueva de la Pileta. Ronda’s spectacular Puente Nuevo spans the deep canyon that divides Ronda’s old and ‘new’ quarters, and there are Moorish palaces, Renaissance mansions and Andalusia’s best preserved Arab baths.

Within an hour drive is Seville, within two hours Granada and within two and a half hours Cordoba. Close to Ronda are a series of enchanting ‘white villages’ clinging to spectacular mountain locations. An easy drive away from La Morera are good beaches and golf courses. Even a day trip to Morocco is possible from Tarifa on the Fast Ferry, which crosses the Strait in just forty minutes.
