A well hidden treasure at the entrance of the picturesque white village of Gaucin, Casa Mosaica offers lots of space, peace and quiet, and a spectaculair pool area.

Coming from the quiet street standing in front of an undistinguished facade and big white wall, you hardly expect to find a place like this.  The number in mosaic is the only indication of what lies behind.

Most surprising are the spacious gardens, the romantic pool area and the gorgeous view to the distant mountains. It is hard to believe that you just entered a town house.

Yet a town house it is, with the lively centre of Gaucin with its many bars and shops within easy walking distance.

It is close to some of the best beaches in Europe, many golf courses and all general amenities.

The beautiful mountainous countryside is inviting you to explore on foot or horseback with little disturbance except for a herd of sheep or goats.

Upon entering the house you feel as though stepping into another world; the Moorish atmosphere will catch you on the spot. You enter through a large Moorish hallway, with antique tiles and furniture, and walls painted in authentic colours.

The first door to your left leads to the spacious living-dining room with open plan kitchen. Light pours in on two sides with French doors leading out to the covered terrace and pool area. This is a great place for al fresco dining.

The pool is shared with the lady who owns both houses and with the guests from La Casita Mosaica, the cottage at the other end of the garden. The small cottage can either be rented together with Casa Mosaica, or separately. The pool area is completely walled. It has many pots with fragrant flowering plants, and a mosaic sundial in one wall.

In the living area the wood burner surrounded by a comfortable sofa and chairs adds to the romantic atmosphere. The interior decoration is perfectly in line with the exotic feel of the place.

The living room has satellite TV with UK channels, DVD and Video player with surround sound. It has wireless internet and IPOD connection.

The dining table easily seats six, looking out to the terrace and pool.

The kitchen area at one end is fully equipped with double sink, gas hob, electric oven, fridge, and dishwasher.

It has a stunning hand made mosaic, and beautiful marble work surface.

All through the house you will find many lovely details, inside as well as out.

The bedrooms are located further down the hallway.

The main bedroom has a comfortable double bed, with good quality linen.

It has colourful Moorish hangings on the walls, antique furniture and a built in wardrobe.

A door opens onto the terrace.

The en-suite bathroom is purely Moorish style. It has a lovely bath hidden behind Moorish arches. 

A lovely hand made mosaic tiles the floor, and heavenly blue stucco walls sublimate the exotic experience.

The second bedroom has twin beds, colourful Moorish wall hangings and antique furniture.

French doors open out to the terrace.

It has en en-suite shower room with large walk-in shower, basin and toilet.

The owner lives with her two cats in the first floor apartment. She will welcome you upon arrival; she speaks English, French and Spanish.

She can answer all your questions regarding the house and the Gaucin area. 

Location:

Casa Mosaica is located in the white village of Gaucin. Gaucin has all amenities. It is 90 minutes to Malaga airport, and less than 30 minutes to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast.

Surroundings:

Gaucin is a spectacularly beautiful mountain village commanding sweeping views to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of north Africa. Its magnificent castle dates from the time of the Roman settlement, and was later expanded by the Arabs into a fortress. There are numerous remains of ancient civilizations in the area.

Within a 2 hour drive are Seville, Granada and Cordoba. An easy drive away from Casa Mosaica are many famous beaches and golf courses.
