| Finca Margarita is a romantic, elegant yet comfortable country home set in beautiful natural surroundings. Margarita, its owner, has spotted, restored and decorated the many a stunning country home in this area for many years. She knows exactly how to create a home of beauty, elegance and rustic charm. Originally Finca Margarita was a cluster of three humble, derelict farm cottages of Moorish origin, yet on a perfect location. |
| The Moors understood exactly where to build their houses: this definitely is the most sheltered spot in the area. The climate is so mild that throughout the year the garden remains lush and green, full of colourful flowers and fragrant herbs. Margarita instantly fell in love with this lovely peaceful location, from where the Alcornocales Natural Park extends all the way to the Mediterranean Sea. She has transformed the remnants of the old cottages into a lovely estate. |
| Entering the estate you get to the large terrace, surrounded by an abundance of colourful flowers, fragrant Mediterranean shrubs, impressive palm trees, and mature olive and oak. It has plenty of space for lounging. From the lovely swimming pool you have breathtaking views over the wooded hills all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea. On a clear day the view goes all the way over the sea to the Riff mountains of Africa (although not as good as in reality, the panorama photo below gives an impression of the view). |
| The house is bordering the pool terrace. The three original cottages have been converted into one large property, retaining many authentic details, like the more thick walls which keep the house cool in summer and warm and comfortable in winter. A covered terrace runs the entire length of the front of the house. A wonderful area for an al fresco meal. Bougainvilleas clambers up supporting pillars and flowering plants spill out of lovely antique terracotta pots. |
| Below the terrace is a garden with citrus trees. It has lemons, limes, oranges, mandarins and even avocado and nispero. The gardener will ensure that you will have a regular supply of fresh fruit, salads and vegetables, which he cultivates in the ecological gardens set aside. Both the dining and living rooms open to the covered terrace. An enormous glass door runs the entire length of the dining room. It slides ingeniously into a hidden wall-space. |
| Antique wooden shutters can be drawn across to make the dining room intimate and comfy on winter evenings. The living space is all downstairs. At one end you will find the fully equipped, bright and colourful, rustic country kitchen. The best materials have been used. There is a great five ring hob, marble work surface, fridge freezer. The tiles are hand-made, there are beautiful paintings and artefacts. This delightful kitchen will without doubt inspire you to perform some of your best cooking. |
| A wide archway leads through from the kitchen to the beautifully appointed dining room. It has a lovely antique 17th century dining table, easily seating up to eight guests. The authentic rustic charm of the house is entirely in harmony with the carefully selected exquisite antiques, colourful paintings and artefacts from all over the world. |
| Through another wide archway is the elegant, bright and comfortable living room. It is furnished in an elegant yet laid-back country style. It offers comfortable sofas and chairs centred around a large romantic fireplace. It has large flat screen TV hidden in a corner, and an interesting choice of books. The stylish antiques and artefacts all add to make this a delightful room. |
| Up the stairs from the far end of the kitchen, you will get to a spectacularly decorated corridor. The three upstairs bedrooms lead off from here. They are all charming and stylishly furnished. The first bedroom has a romantic single four-poster bed and en-suite bathroom. It has its own terrace with views to the Mediterranean Sea. It’s bathroom has a basin, bath with shower over and toilet. |
| The next bedroom is an utterly romantic double with an en-suite bathroom. This room has the most spectacular views over the whole surrounding area. The bathroom has a basin, bath with shower over and toilet. |
| The third bedroom on this floor is also a double. It has views across the sun terrace and gardens. This bedroom makes use of an attractive bathroom with large walk-in shower on the other side of the corridor. |
| Downstairs, at the end of the covered terrace, next to the kitchen, is a pretty twin room with views over the garden. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom, a basin, bath with shower over and toilet. |
| Set a bit aside from the main house is a self-contained apartment. It is opposite the pool and is accessed from the sun terrace. Alongside is a laundry / utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, an extra fridge and a huge freezer. |
| The apartment has a small terrace bordered by many lovely flowers and dominated by a huge swaying palm tree. You enter the cottage into the large open plan bedroom. The apartment has a large double bed on one side of the room, a comfortable sitting area and a small kitchenette on the other. |
| It’s views go across the pool to the distant sea. The apartment has its own bathroom. It has a basin, toilet, and both a bath and walk in shower. |
| You will be enchanted by this warm and welcoming home away from home. Here you will enjoy peace and tranquillity of the countryside and experience the real authentic Andalucia in a comfortable setting. |
