Las Palmeras
Las Palmeras will remind you of the fairytale of 1001 nights…an utterly romantic Moorish house located just outside the village of Arriate, at only a 10 minutes drive from Ronda. It has extensive mature gardens with many fountains, water channels, lovely pebbled mosaic terraces and delightful hidden corners. The large pool is surrounded by a lawn, and next to it is a covered barbecue area. What else would you need to cocoon and relax…
2-6 persons

When you enter through the gateway of Las Palmeras along the private avenue leading up to the house, you will immediately be captured by the Mediterranean atmosphere.

The many huge palm trees ( hence it’s name..) bordering this avenue, the pines, the colourful flower beds and carefully designed mosaic terraces feel as if you enter a lush park rather than a private garden...
The pool is set right besides the house surrounded by a well kept lawn. The fresh water for the pool enters from the statues at its four corners.

There is ample space for sunbathing, and you will find many lovely shaded areas to relax. Set aside is a pretty, large pool house with built-in barbecue.

The property offers lots of privacy.
Following Moorish tradition the house is surrounded by shaded patio’s, with arches in the Moorish horseshoe-shape.

All is finished with the beautiful tadlakt ( polished Moorish stucco) in warm, earthy colours.
You enter the house into the sitting room. In the interior you will find many Moorish details too, carefully hand made by the owners.

The living area has a comfortable sofa and armchairs, and a cosy wood burning stove. There is central heating all over for the cooler months.
The small but functional and well equipped kitchen is set aside the living area.

To the other side is a sundrenched dining area which easily seats six.
Through the beautiful Moorish arch a hallway leads to three spacious bedrooms.

One has a double bed and built-in wardrobe, the other two both have a large sized single bed and built-in wardrobes.Furthermore there is a spotless bathroom next to the bedrooms, with bath/shower, two basins, lavatory and bidet.

Up the spiral staircase is a very romantic double bedrooms, with many small Moorish horseshoe-windows. It has French windows leading out to a terrace with views over the garden, the village below and the surrounding countryside. This bedroom has its private en-suite bathroom with bath with overhead shower, basin, lavatory and bidet.
It clearly shows that a lot of effort and attention has been given to the design and finishing of the house.

The whole family of the owner has painstakingly finished all details by hand, be it the pebbled mosaic terraces or the hand carved and hand painted arch in the living room.
Set aside is a tennis court; the size of the court is good, it does not have much the space around it though. Good enough for a few nice games.

The sound of running water through the Moorish water channels and from the fountains, the smell of fragrant herbs, the colourful flowers, it all adds to the relaxing atmosphere, and makes this property a marvellous holiday retreat.
Location:

Las Palmeras is situated at the rim of the village of Arriate. From Ronda it is about 10 minutes by car to Las Palmeras. Ronda has all facilities.

It is 90 minutes to the airports of Malaga, Jerez or Seville and less than 60 minutes to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast.
Surroundings:

Apart from the truly stunning scenery around Ronda (Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves, Park of Grazalema, Zahara lake etc.), there are numerous remains of ancient civilizations in the area, including some of Europe’s most beautiful cave painting in the Cueva de la Pileta.

Ronda’s spectacular Puente Nuevo spans the deep canyon that divides Ronda’s old and ‘new’ quarters, and there are Moorish palaces, Renaissance mansions and Andalusia’s best preserved Arab baths.

Within a 2 hour drive are Seville, Granada and Cordoba. And close to Ronda are a series of enchanting ‘white villages’ clinging to spectacular mountain locations. An easy drive away from La Casita are good beaches and golf courses. Even a day trip to Morocco is possible from Tarifa on the Fast Ferry, which crosses the Strait in just 40 minutes.
