Los Melchores

The dramatic outcrop of rock Puerto de las Palomas is one of the most beautiful areas in Grazalema Natural Park. Just below this peak in the valley La Ribera, Los Melchores is situated. An extremely secluded place, at  just a ten minutes drive from the famous village of Grazalema and half an hour to famous Ronda. This country retreat  is very private and peaceful. A perfect place for walking in the Park, or just relaxing by the pool.

Los Melchores offers its guests impressive panoramic views over the beautiful Grazalema Natural Park. The property is surrounded by a large olive and almond grove.

It is so peaceful, you would almost forget that the whitewashed village of Grazalema, with its cosy central square with many tapaz bars and restaurants, is just a short drive from here.

The patio is covered by an old grape, in the garden oranges and trumpet plants ensure a fragrant experience.

The braying of the donkey of the neighbour or the bells of his goats will be the only sounds disturbing the utter silence in this valley.

This is a truly peaceful place.

The pool is constantly filled with fresh water streaming from the mountain.

Next to the pool is a lawned area with partly shade from an enormous fig tree, and partly sun.

A lovely area to relax and enjoy the stunning views.There are lounge chairs and parasols to enjoy the warm Andalusian sunshine.

The property has been carefully renovated by its owners in a rustic style, without losing any of its authenticity.

Base elements of dark wooden beams and terracotta floors have been stylishly combined with antiques and artefacts from all over the world.

The house reflects the artistic sensitivity of the owner.

The living has a comfortable couch and armchairs.
 
A wood-burner ensures a pleasant atmosphere for an occasionally colder evening.

There is a TV  (no satellite though) with DVD-player, radio and CD player.

The kitchen is situated next to the living.

It has an antique sink and antique tiles, but offers all modern facilities like a gas cooker, fridge-freezer and washing machine.

Up a few steps is a dining area, with a cosy round table seating 4 or more, and nice old wooden cupboards.

A door is leading out to a cosy patio, offering lots of shade for dining during the heat of the day.

A staircase leads up to the master bedroom with double bed.

From here you have amazing views over the valley.

The bathroom is downstairs.

The ground floor has two more twin bedrooms,  each having their own shower room with basin and lavatory.

Location:

Los Melchores is located in the Grazalema Natural Park. For the last bit it is reached by car on an unmade track, that is steep and rough in places. During the summer a standard rental car with good ground clearance usually does the job, until May and after September a 4x4 is required.

Los Melchores is at a 10 minutes drive from Grazalema, where you have some shops, tapaz bars and restaurants.
 
It is 30 minutes by car to Ronda. Ronda has all facilities.  It is a 90 minutes drive to the airport of Malaga or Seville and less than an hour to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast.		 LOS MELCHORES location in the Grazalema Natural Park near Ronda
Surroundings:
Apart from the truly stunning scenery around Ronda (Serrania de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves, Park of Grazalema, Zahara lake etc.), there are numerous remains of ancient civilizations in the area, including some of Europe’s most beautiful cave painting in the Cueva de la Pileta.

Ronda’s spectacular Puente Nuevo spans the deep canyon that divides Ronda’s old and ‘new’ quarters, and there are Moorish palaces, Renaissance mansions and Andalusia’s best preserved Arab baths.

Within a 2 hour drive are Seville, Granada and Cordoba. And close to Ronda are a series of enchanting ‘white villages’ clinging to spectacular mountain locations. An easy drive away from Los Melchores are good beaches and golf courses.
