Guests about this villa

“We had a fantastic holiday at Los Melchores , thanks so much for organising it and being so helpful before and during our stay. This was the most peaceful and beautiful place we ever stayed and we are definitely hoping to return next year, please feel free to use the feedback here. The house and grounds are stunning with 360 degree views of mountains and countryside. It is tucked away at the end of a mountain track and no other property is visible. Apart from the shepherd passing by early each morning you don’t see or hear a single other person or vehicle ever. This tranquility combined with no internet or TV really makes this a perfect escape from our hectic lives ; it genuinely feels like the world does not exist. There is lots to see in the local area but we could barely drag ourselves away from Los Melchores! Isa the house manager was very friendly and helpful , and we could not fault the help we got from Vida Rustica (Maaike) before and during our stay. For us this is a little piece of Paradise.”

Michelle and Rob Edge, September 2018

Dear Michelle and Rob, Thank you so much for your lovely and extensive feedback! Great to hear that you have enjoyed the villa and the area to the max. How wonderful that I can use your feedback for the villa page; that is very helpful for other guests. Looking forward to advising you again a next time, Best wishes, Maaike, Vida Rustica

Maaike, Vida Rustica

“We have just had the most amazing, relaxing holiday at Los Melchores in the Sierra de Grazalema. This hideaway is a gem and the definition of peace and tranquility. The approach to the villa is up the mountain on a dirt track, but our hire car managed it OK. There is some of the most beautiful scenery in this part of Spain. The “white villages” are great to explore and all have a variety of restaurants with home cooking. The prices are ridiculously cheap for food and drink. People are great and if you can speak a bit of spanish you will get more from the holiday as there isnt much English spoken anywhere. We hardly saw a fellow tourist all week which also added to the attraction of the area.”

Keith Norman, June 2016

Dear Keith, Thanks for your helpful feedback! Good to hear that you enjoyed the villa and this amazingly beautiful area. We will be happy to advise you again a next time.

“We had a wonderful time at Los Melchores again this year and feel relaxed and energised, ready for another busy year ahead! Our journey back went well but I am afraid that we failed to bring any of the Spanish sun back with us!

It was great to have Isa and Juan on call and they were really prompt to come to our help when we needed it, which was a bit more than last year due to the water situation which seemed to have a couple of issues.

It was a fabulous holiday and we loved our time there – it has to be one of the most relaxing and beautiful environments, off the beaten track but not feeling isolated and within easy reach of the wonderful Grazelema where we went to regularly, enjoying watching life go by while having an early evening drink in the square or a great meal out in one of the restaurants.

Another highlight that we didn’t do last year as it was shut was visiting Occuri near Ubrique, a really interesting Roman ruin in a wonderful prominent position above the town where we had a guided tour (just the two of us!) and watched a short video on it. The tours are at 10, 12 and 6pm and really worth doing.

We are very much hoping to come back next year. Many thanks for all your help and getting back to us so quickly when we had the problem with the water, we very much appreciated your support.

With all very best wishes and thank you for your advice, we are very much holding on to the memories and they will be with us for a long time.”

Tessa, August 2015

Dear Tessa, How wonderful that you have enjoyed Los Melchores to the max again! Thanks so much for the above feedback and for your other suggestions on how to further improve the experience at the villa. I was actually very happy that you called me immediately when the extreme drought caused some water issues. It is definitely better not to try solve it yourself, as you and I are not from the campo, and Juan Rafael, the neighbour, knows exactly what to do in a situation like this. Somehow he always manages to solve issues like this instantly. We have already scheduled your next stay – we will try to have as many of your suggestions in place as possible! Best regards, Maaike

“We had a wonderful time, it is a truly idyllic spot and the quiet and tranquility amazing. We saw our neighbours in the morning as they worked on their land but otherwise none but Isa, who is charming.
There were a number basic foodstuffs, oil, sugar, salt and some spice, also shower gel in the bathroom. I don’t know if these things are always there but had we known it would have been a little less to bring, and what we did will be there for the next guests.

The drive in! youre right’, it gets easier, but an anxious driver would struggle.

We know the area fairly well and did not want to venture far, but some up to date local information would help those new to the area. The location of the small supermarkets in Grazalema, what walks there are etc.
Isa suggested we visited the caves at Benaojan, they were superb but although we have visited the area several times knew nothing of them.

It is a property we would return to – despite the road and so thank you.”

Tony and Meryl Burgess, June 2015

“Seems a long time ago since we were at the wonderful Los Melchores. We had a brilliant time so good that we would like to book to go back again next year if it is free. Many thanks and all best wishes, “

Tessa Willy, August 2014

“Another wonderful stay at Los Melchores. We’ve been coming here now many times (since 2008), it really feels like home. We were very lucky with the weather too, it was really warm – just the odd day of some rain. I think we’ve seen most weather types in our stays in and out of the seasons. Lovely. The property is always immaculate and looked after by very friendly team, we see Juan a few times to say hello throughout the stay and like to leave a bottle of wine and goodies to say thanks. Really was a wonderful stay again. We’ll always return to Los Melchores as it’s a completely relaxing holiday, you can switch off the world, look over the hills and spend quality time together. I will be in touch for future dates and thank you again for your efficient organisation. “
